Temperature and Smoke Control
Temperature control and smoke venting systems.
Pefipresa, S.A continues to make progress in fire prevention with a combination of different techniques and existing systems, which is one of the most exciting and necessary fields at this time.
The correct design of fire protection installations is currently initiated as from knowledge and consideration of the interactions that develop between various types of fire protection installations.
One of the most complex and most controversial aspects has always been the interaction between the temperature control and smoke evacuation systems with the sprinkler installations. As well as the technical complexity of these installations, there has always been a mutual lack of knowledge in the combination of both techniques. Finally, the techniques and the regulations are changing to clearly define the road along which we must continue to advance.
The Smoke Control installations are no longer simple hatches on the roof that open when a thermal fuse triggers them. Current control and smoke and heat evacuation systems consist of a series of pieces of equipment that make up a single installation, Fire Protection.
Hatch aerator
The hatch aerators designed for ventilation and smoke evacuation are activated by means of a pneumatic cylinder or electric servomotor, and consist of a frame and a perimeter skirting board of galvanised plate adaptable to any type of solution on a roof or façade.
The overall design of the unit guarantees total watertightness, with the water being evacuated centrally through a drainage channel.
All equipment incorporates a bimetal thermal fuse calibrated as necessary between 68º and 141º
Optionally the equipment may also be supplied with the following hatch and mechanism types;
-Sandwich panel hatch.
-Simple aluminium hatch.
-Hatch of 10 mm sp. cellular polycarbonate.
-Electric operations at 24 V. / 220 V.
-Hatches and skirting boards with thermal and acoustic insulation.
All equipment supplied by Pefipresa contains EU marking to comply with the strictest requirements of regulation 12101-2 (Specifications for natural aerators for extracting smoke and heat)
Double hatch aerators
Double hatch aerators designed for smoke control and natural ventilation are activated by means of pneumatic cylinders or electric servomotors.
Unit consists of:
Central drainage channel, aluminium profile hatches and a cellular polycarbonate or aluminium panel pipe with thermal and acoustic insulation, or a perimeter skirting board of galvanised steel 1.5 mm thick covered with thermal insulation 20 mm thick, with a skirting board adaptable to any type of roof solution.
The design of the unit guarantees both total watertightness and wind exclusion.
The equipment incorporates an emergency thermal fuse in the form of a small bottle of CO2 calibrated as necessary between 68º and 141º
Optionally the equipment may be supplied with:
-Antitheft and/or birdproof mesh.
-Wind deflectors.
-Special bases and dimensions.
-Lacquering according to RAL.

Slat aerators
Aerators designed for smoke control and natural ventilation are activated by means of pneumatic cylinders or electric servomotors.
Unit consists of:
Side drainage channels, built by means of aluminium profile, equipped with slats of cellular polycarbonate or aluminium. Base with an adaptable or perimeter skirting board of galvanised steel 1.5 mm thick covered with thermal insulation 20 mm thick.
Adaptable to any type of roof or façade solution.
The design of the unit guarantees total watertightness. The equipment incorporates a thermal fuse calibrated as necessary between 68º and 141º
Optionally the equipment may be supplied with:
-Isolated slats.
-Antitheft and/or birdproof mesh.
-Special bases and dimensions.
-Lacquering according to RAL.

Smoke barriers
Fixed or automatic smoke barriers, manufactured based on continuous fibreglass filament, chemically interwoven and smoke exclusive.
Average weight of the tissue: 450 gr/m².
Thickness: 0.36 mm.
The barrier is secured both horizontally and laterally by means of angular profiling of galvanised steel and metallic securing plugs, or by means of the securing of metallic registerable caissons in the case of mobile barriers. The barrier modules are thus joined together by the sides by means of fireproof textile self-adhesive joints. A lower tubular counterweight, together with the supporting profiles, guarantees the stability and resistance of the whole.
D 600º classification capable of keeping the unit complete.
The smoke barriers are designed and tested in accordance with EN 12101-1:2002
CO2 control panels
PEFIPRESA N-VTEC/CO2 control panels for automatic opening in the event of fire of the smoke evacuation equipment by natural draught.
Emergency opening by manual push-button.
Optional emergency opening by manual push-button and on a signal from the detection system.
Steel plate envelopment painted red (RAL 3000).
Open/closed mechanical indicator.
Door to the frame with a window glass that is breakable with the use of a side hammer.
Automatic opening device via an electrical signal (24 V.) of the detection system (SPE-CO2).
MANUAL OPERATION:
Break the front glass using the side hammer.
Exert pressure on the opening button; the mechanical plunger will perforate the CO2 ampoule and pressurise the pneumatic line as far as the aerators.
Manual resetting and replacement of the CO2 bottle.
EMERGENCY ELECTRICAL OPERATION:
In the event of connection with the emergency signal (24 V.), this signal will activate the contents of the CO2 bottle and release its contents to the pneumatic line, thus opening the equipment. Manual resetting and replacement of the CO2 bottle.

Electro-Pneumatic control panels.
PEFIPRESA N-VTEC Electro-Pneumatic panels are capable of combining different types of signals and handling the aerators depending on the extent of each installation of:
Smoke evacuation manoeuvre in the event of fire: manual or automatic opening and closing by means of the Fire Protection System.
Manual emergency opening by push-button.
Daily ventilation handling in a natural and automatic way in combination with other ventilation equipment, temperature and humidity probes, etc.
Control of all aerators in one or several aerator operation areas, and control of the automatic smoke barriers.
Equipped with continuous feed system (Sistema de Alimentación Ininterrumpida, SAI), and reserve storage batteries that last over 72 h.
Option of the automatic opening of the aerators by means of other types of signals, compatible with the air-conditioning systems and the connection with centralised system.
Equipped with an outside rain sensor and internal module so as to guarantee the closing of the aerators if it rains.
The fire signal always has priority over any other fault or ventilation alarm.
Front pneumatic push-button of the mushroom type, exclusively for the handling of the emergency equipment.
