Active fire protection

Water estinguishing systems.

ProductosAutomatic sprinkler systems.

How they work:

Sprinkler installations are automatic fire extinguishing installations. They detect, warn of, control, and extinguish (in certain types) fires that have started before they grow and become uncontrollable. The principle by which the sprinklers of PEFIPRESA S.A. work is as safe as it is reliable.

The sprinkler is installed according to an established distribution in the areas to be protected. If as a result of a fire the temperature of the area surrounding a sprinkler increases above that of the calibration of the same, the sprinkler opens and the water is released only in the area where the fire is. At the same time, the alarm system warns that it is being used.

When the fire has been put out, the sprinklers that are open are replaced by new ones and the system is ready to work again.

System types and special accessories:

To ensure a large number of sprinklers, PEFIPRESA S.A. has developed several systems of sprinklers and special accessories, always with the aim of providing optimum made-to-measure fire protection adapted to each specific building.

Productos
Fields of application:

Warehouses, industries, production buildings, storage areas, warehouses of self-supporting shelves, hotels, fairs, shopping centres, hypermarkets, supermarkets, office buildings, hospitals, food industries, cinematographic industries, photography, paintings, detergents, plastics, paper and wood processing industries, galvanising work, treatment of waste, data processing centres, extremely valuable files, and banks, among others.

Water spray systems.

ProductosHow they work:

The pulverising water system works mainly like a sprinkler system, except that it has open extinguishing nozzles and in the event of fire releases large amounts of water over the whole of the protected area. It is used to protect either complete buildings or only parts of them, and also provides local protection for objects with high heat sensitivity that are easily flammable and where there is a risk of fire rapidly expanding.

Fields of application:

Nuclear power stations, thermal power stations, warehouses for incinerating waste, silos, manufacturing plants, aeroplane hangars, theatre scenarios, conversion stations, cable manholes, ferries, tunnels, gas and petroleum tanks, liquid fuel bleed-off stations, etc.

Foam extinguishing systems.

ProductosHow they work:

Extinguishing systems using foam are fixed systems. They are used for fires of both solid and liquid materials, and with certain restrictions also in fires of gaseous materials. To generate the foam, the water current runs through different pieces of equipment where it is suitably mixed with the substance generating the foam, spumogen. The combination of the water and the concentrated foam is almost always later mixed with air.

Fields of application:

Manufacturing and repair plants, storage plants in tanks, refineries, airports, laboratories, chemical warehouses, fixed roof tanks, floating roof tanks, pans for collecting spills, tips, hangars, LPG tanks, LPG spheres, etc.

Gas extinguishing systems.

ProductosHow they work:

Fire extinguishing systems use natural inert gases to put out fires. Basically they are used where the fires that have started must be extinguished rapidly, and where it is essential to prevent subsequent damage caused by the effect of the extinguishing agents or waste.

In gas systems discharge occurs automatically when fire is detected, although it can also be activated manually. Once the alarm has been set off and the programmed retardation has occurred, the gas is discharged in the vicinity of the fire. Any ventilator or air conditioning equipment will stop at the same time, and the ventilation hatches and doors will close to prevent air entering and/or the extinguishing gas escaping, losing its capacity for action in this way.

Gases systems are particularly suitable for areas containing liquid fuels or other materials that behave in a similar way in the presence of fire, and for areas containing equipment or very valuable objects that may be damaged if other extinguishing agents are used..

System types:

To ensure a large number of applications, PEFIPRESA S.A. has developed several systems of gases, always with the aim of providing optimum made-to-measure fire protection adapted to each specific building. PEFIPRESA S.A. has developed its own fire extinguishing systems using gas:

  • High pressure CO2 “Favorit system”
  • Low pressure CO2

“Argotec System" argon inert gas: in the Montreal protocol the use of halons for putting out fires was prohibited. For this reason, PEFIPRESA S.A. has found an extinguishing system to fill this gap. Our system is known as Argotec; it is made up of 100% argon and denominated in NFPA-2001 IG-O1. The argon is supplied in cylinders with a capacity of 80/67 litres at 200-300 bar. It thus complies with that specified in NFPA-2001 IG-O1 and the CEPREVEN Technical Regulations. Some of their applications are for generator rooms, a General Low Voltage Panel (Cuadro General Baja Tensión, C.G.B.T.), computer rooms...

Fields of application:

Manufacturing and processing of paint, warehouses of dangerous materials, powder paint dip cabins, hydraulic systems, filters, printing presses, plastic foams, data processing centre installations, archives, underground wiring, control panels, turbines, transformers, metal processing, tool machines, textile machinery, art warehouses, etc.
